(March 5, 2026) Because private markets are, by definition, not traded publicly, there’s no way for investors to assess what the “right” price is for them at any given time, Mousseau pointed out.

“The prices are a best guesstimate on what things are worth,” Mousseau said. “In markets that are having a lot of pressure on selling, that number becomes harder to put a number on.”

“The more people say this is overblown, the more you know there’s a problem.”
