Voters in Southeast see some big local bonds on ballot

(October 15, 2026) Miami's police headquarters opened in 1976 and was designed for 560 officers but today houses 1,390 sworn personnel and 400 additional staff, the mayor said. The facility has plumbing failures, flooding, inoperable restrooms, roof leaks and outdated electrical systems. Of the city's 17 fire-rescue stations, eight are more than 50 years old.

"The improvement to facilities — police and fire — is very important as you can't have electrical equipment shorting out because of storms," said John Mousseau, executive vice president and chief investment officer at Cumberland Advisors.
